One of my older sisters introduced me into de Buddhism culture, she is a believer and she practices meditation and several exercises of that culture. I, particularly, have liked some aspects of that culture since I read “Siddhartha” by Hermann Hesse and discovered a whole world really different from the one I knew. Then, I bought this book, luckily at a great discount price, because I wanted to learn a bit more about that fascinating culture and, I have to say that it is a very complete one. It has a lot of information and “lessons” that will help you clear your mind and body from bad energies, and free yourself from sufferings.I do think that, if you let yourself go, you are going to really have new positive experiences that, perhaps, can make you a more open-minded and free person, looking to find the desired happiness at every moment of your life.

Lauren did a stellar job in teaching the basics of Buddhism - it's history the difference in interpretations by various nations etc. it's s brief yet effective read and you'll leave wanting to model the zen lifestyle for yourself. I liked how each week is a new learning experience. Changing your perspectives and actions to possibly change the way your mind and brain work together. I really enjoyed reading this book. It `s like a guide to a happy and harmonic life. The idea of dividing the advises of Buddhism in weeks is exiting. A new advise every Monday that you can meditate on throughout the week seems to be a rewarding exercise.
This is a good comprehensive beginner’s guide to Buddhism. Although the title teases at a deadline, it’s safe to say it’s a great start to a lifelong journey. The weekly segments set a nice framework for a natural and increasingly detailed progression toward a more centered life. I wasn’t able to go week to week. I confess I read the whole thing in about 2 sittings.

Each week is given a theme to focus on, and from learning gratitude to reaching nirvana, this will definitely take you on a journey that will lead you to self-actualization. I have to admit I read this in one sitting, but will be reviewing for each week's theme. I love how this promotes gradual improvement--the only way we can reach our fullest potential.
